PRESERVATION OF THE FAMILY UNIT
Have you ever had Child Protective Services in your life? Do you have any grievances against them? If so, please let us know. We are family advocates that want to preserve the family unit. On too many occasions, CPS has taken the liberty of destroying families in the name of the law. For CPS horror stories, please visit www.fightcps.com. We hope your eyes will be opened to this legal form of child kidnapping.
Some things to do if CPS knocks on your door:
1. FIRST & FOREMOST: Remember your Constitutional Rights. Also, remember your Miranda Rights:
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense."
2. DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT. We realize that when you are in this situation, you are not in the mindset to remember such things. However, it is of utmost importance that you write down, record, and/or videotape any and all correspondence you have from this point forward. CPS has been known to commit perjury!!! If they stoop to this level, who knows what else they are capable of.
3. DON'T SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT LEGAL COUNSEL.
4. READ EVERY LAST WORD OF ANY DOCUMENT YOU SIGN.

Our goal is to ensure that families are preserved. Many times, nosy neighbors, "family friends", or school officials think they know what is best for your family. Unfortunately, without getting an inside view of what is going on in the family, people won't know how to fix the problem. You must look objectively at each situation and determine what is best for the family as a unit. Chances are, the people who call CPS see a situation where the family doesn't measure up the their standards. Rather than finding out about the situation and working on the situation, they just call CPS.

Things we have learned about the CPS process
CPS tends to drag their feet when it comes to providing services. They also procrastinate. Don't be surprised they pile up all the things they were supposed to do the week before
Make sure you get your visits. If not, tell the judge at the next hearing.
When in front of the judge, don't be afraid to ask questions or ask to make a statement.
Example: Raise your hand and say, "Your Honor, may I speak?"
